Terminate a process
|Top Previous Next|
There are three ways to terminate an application using Entrek ProcMan.
Go to the Processes view. Select the process you want to terminate. Right-click and choose Terminate from the context menu. Or click the Terminate toolbar button. A warning dialog will appear. Click OK to continue with terminating the process or Cancel to cancel terminating the process.
Go to the Applications view. Select the main window of the process you want to close. Now click the Close toolbar button. This will send WM_CLOSE window message to the application's main window to request the window to close. Typically processes will terminate when their main window is closed.
NOTE: these methods are not available in Entrek ProcMan Standard Edition.
You can use the PostMessage feature to post WM_CLOSE, WM_QUIT, or a custom application message that might instruct your application to close. From the windows tab, select the window you want to post a message to and right-click it. Now click the PostMessage... toolbar button. Or you can select PostMessage... from the popup menu that appears.
If you are spying on a window then you can click the Post Message... toolbar button in the spy window.
