GUI Testing and Debugging
|Top Previous Next|
Graphical user interface development on Windows many times requires trial-and-error experimenting with Windows APIs for paint/redraw issues, setting the correct Z-order and position, and getting a message trace. Many times this requires you to modify, rebuild, redeploy, and retest your application. Entrek ProcMan allows you to test and debug by invoking Windows APIs while connected to your target device as well as get a trace of window messages using Advanced Windows Spy.
Go to the Processes view and select the process which owns the window you want to test. Click the Windows tab and use the left treeview to find the window. Select the window. Now right click to see a popup menu of APIs or use the toolbar button that corresponds to the API you want to invoke.
NOTE: Please check the Win32 SDK help for information about each API.
Advanced Windows Spy
Advanced Windows Spy allows you to view a trace of messages sent to a selected window.
